Gun Violence Solutions for Gun Violence Awareness Month
Michigan lawmakers are currently seeking to toughen gun laws in the state and its gun death rate has increased 25% over the past decade. Part of the solution lies in safe storage laws and regulations -- keeping firearms locked, unloaded and separate from ammunition.��Research from the�Johns�Hopkins�Center for Gun Violence Solutions at the Bloomberg School of Public Health shows that secure firearm storage can prevent many gun related deaths, including unintentional shootings and suicides, as well as gun theft.� 26 states have some form of safe storage regulation.� Michigan�is one of these states. Bre Teamer chats with Katherine Hoops from Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions about the statistics and what we can do to prevent further violence.
