Detroit bolstering employee assistance for fire department after reports of alcohol abuse within fire houses

Mayor Mike Duggan and Fire Commissioner Eric Jones addressed mounting concerns about firefighters responding to emergency cases while under the influence of alcohol Tuesday. The city and department is partnering with the local and national union leadership to better address the increased stress that firefighters are under during the pandemic.
