Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer travel and despite higher prices, millions of people are still hitting the road. AAA says more than 1.3 million Michiganders are expected to travel over the holiday weekend, one of the busiest travel periods on record. But with gas, hotels, and airfares still putting pressure on family budgets, many people are looking for smarter ways to vacation this summer.
