Southeast Michigan school closings list: Many schools closed Wednesday due to cold weather

 

As temperatures remain below zero, with the wind making it even colder, hundreds of schools are closed.

The Wednesday closures started pouring in on Monday, with many districts electing to cancel classes both Tuesday and Wednesday due to the forecasted blast of cold that won't subside until later this week.

The cold weather advisory remains in effect until noon Wednesday with wind chills as low as -20. 

Expect some light snow showers late Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures will slowly moderate into the weekend.

Here is the forecast:

  • Rest of Tuesday evening/night: Frigid with a few flurries. Low near -5°F. Wind chills well below zero.
  • Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, breezy, and very cold. High 16°F.
  • Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few snow showers. High 25°F.
  • Friday: Su and clouds, cold. High 22°F.
  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy. High 29°F.
  • Sunday: Mostly cloudy. High 27°F.
  • Monday: Mostly cloudy. High 29°F.
