Author, Filmmaker Matty Rich Visits Detroit
Critically-acclaimed director and author Matty Rich is in Detroit promoting his latest book "BEV" with a signing event at the Livonia Barnes and Noble, starting at 2 p.m. today.
The book is an inspiring story about the little-known real life story of Beverly Luther, a white social worker who answered the call by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for northerners to help with the famous Selma March.
He and Tiffany Patton stopped by the Fox2 Studios Saturday morning to preview the book signing event and share Luther's story.
"She was a petite white lady who just had fire in her," Rich explained. "This story shows the civil rights movement was not just an African American movement, it was an American movement. This book will bridge people together."
