Bike PATH: Ride for Recovery Sept. 24

(WJBK) - CARE of southeastern Michigan's 4th annual Bike PATH: Ride for Recovery is coming up this weekend. The event helps break the cycle of addiction.

The CDC estimates 129 Americans die every day from drug related overdoses.

Deborah Smith, a member of CARE's board of directors, understands the pain all too well. She lost her son to a heroin overdose and she has organized a very special tribute ths weekend.

She joined us in studio to tell us more about CARE and the bike ride. You can watch in the video player above.

The ride is Saturday, September 24 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. You can ride as little as two miles or as many as 40 miles.
