K-9 Team for Harper Woods Police, how you can help

Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society, whose shelter is located in Harper Woods, has kicked off a campaign to raise funds for a K-9 Program.  Officer Stephen Johnson will be the dedicated K-9 officer and is very excited about the prospect of having a full time partner; a highly trained German Shepherd Dog.  The purchase of a K-9 dog with training is about $13,000, and does not include the specially equipped police vehicle for the dog. St. Saabas Orthodox Monastery, the Royal Eagle, also located in Harper Woods, is hosting a special dinner event on Tuesday August 9th. 100% of the donations will go to Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society to help fund this endeavor.  It is the goal to have Officer Johnson start the training class in late October. This week's pet of the week is "Woody," a 3-month old domestic short-hair, orange tabby.
