Mitch Albom hosts SAY Detroit Radiothon, opens Brown Bag Popcorn at Somerset Collection

Detroit author Mitch Albom is getting ready to take over the airwaves to help others this holiday season.

Albom's SAY Detroit Radiothon to benefit the nonprofit's umbrella of programs and projects serving thousands of Detroiters, as well as other charities, will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 in the North Grand Court at the Somerset Collection in Troy.

The Radiothon will be broadcast for 15 straight hours on WJR-AM (760) from 6 am to 9 pm. The event, hosted by Albom and radio show partner Ken Brown, will be live-streamed across the area and to various parts of the world at facebook.com/SAY Detroit, saydetroit.org, freep.com, clickondetroit.com and wjr.com with frequent cut-ins on WDIV-TV Channel 4. The public is invited to attend and watch the Radiothon live at Somerset.

He's also opening a retail experience at the Somerset Collection food court -- Brown Bag Popcorn.

And finally, his book "The Next Person You Meet in Heaven" debuted at #1 on the New York Times best sellers list.
