MOD Pizza Attempts World Record to Help the Hungry

Nearly 400,000 children in Southeast Michigan are at risk of going hungry, struggling to find their next meal.

The TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, a Michigan-based, family-owned restaurant group, and its 11 metro Detroit MOD Pizza restaurants is trying to change that in record fashion. The chain will host a meal-packaging event to help fight hunger at McGregor Elementary School, located at 1101 1st St. in Rochester on June 9. And they'll try to break the Guinness Book of World Records' "most hunger relief packages assembled simultaneously."

The meals benefit Blessings in a Backpack, an organization that mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for youth in metro Detroit.
Jake Schostak, of MOD Pizza, dropped by the Fox2 Kitchen Sunday morning to talk about the initiative and to showcase some of their signature, fan-favorite pizzas, including the 'Sophie.'
