Photo program helps Detroit kids capture their dreams

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. A new program at Cass Community Social Services is helping kids in need express their future goals with a camera.

Cass Community was selected as a 2018 participant and beneficiary of Pictures of Hope, an award-winning national program created by renowned photojournalist and author Linda Solomon. The students were given a photo tutorial -- before they were surprised with a new, donated digital camera.

Each student's best photograph is being turned into a custom Pictures of Hope card, with all proceeds supporting Cass Community and its mission.

Cass Community's executive director Faith Fowler joined us in studio to tell us more about the program and the pictures that are for sale. You can hear from her in the video player above, and get more information online here
