1 in custody after man dies from stab wound

Detroit police say one person is in custody after a man died from a stab wound early Friday morning on the city's west side.

The man was found in an alleyway around 1 a.m. near Michigan and Central avenues. Police say the stabbing happened at a home in the 4800 block of Tarnow Street, and that the victim tried running away but collapsed in the nearby alley. He had been stabbed in the leg.

Police say the victim and the man in custody knew each other, but police are unsure right now why the stabbing hapened.

The victim is described as a man in his late 30s. His name has not yet been released as authorities are notifying family.

Police recovered the knife from the home, and a Geo Prizm was also taken from the scene.
