Around 4 a.m. Sunday morning neighbors say they heard screams coming from inside one of the mobile homes at Oakland Glens Mobile Home Community. Then the park filled up with police.

They found a 21-year-old woman dead inside, and her 6-month-old baby was injured and had to be taken to the hospital.

"Getting too close to home, literally,” resident Ebony King said. She looked out from her porch at the scene all day Sunday. “I'm seeing yellow tape, I'm seeing stuff roped off and police everywhere."

Police say the woman’s wounds and other clues lead them to believe she was murdered.

“This isn't something you wish on your enemy. This is horrific and whoever did this is evil,” King said.

The woman's 6-month-old baby boy was found hurt inside, and he had to be rushed to the hospital.

Friends of the family tell FOX 2 his injuries are very serious and that he's undergone surgery. Police have been keeping quiet on the infant's condition.

“I pray for them they have a long road to go and I pray for that baby,” King said.

Most of the people who live at the Oakland Glens Mobile Home Community in Novi have called it home for years but have seen a decline.

“Just in this particular area alone this is the second death in a year,” King said.

Last December, Derrick Dixon was sentenced for strangling his wife to death during an argument at their home in the park.

“I been here for 26 years and its getting worst and worst in here,” resident Denise Akers said.

Neighbors on edge as investigators follow up leads to find out who might have wanted to hurt this young mother.

“It's scary, it's very scary because you don't know who did it or if the killer is still out there,” Akers said.
