Body found in burned out home on Detroit's east side

Police are looking for information after a body was found inside a burned out house on Detroit's east side.

Investigators believe someone dumped the remains at the abandoned home on Cameron Street near 8 Mile on Tuesday night, then torched the house to cover it up.

Neighbors watched flames engulf the home as Detroit fire and police responded.

"It's crazy that that's going on in my neighborhood. I never thought I would be living around something like that," said neighbor Jamaica Pines.

Pines walks by the home daily and was nervous to hear that police believe a man's body may have been dumped. The man's death is being investigated as a homicide.

The body has not yet identified, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office. Detroit police say the man's body was very badly burned and found in the front room...

"There are a lot of homeless people around here in this area," Pines said.

The city says the scorched home was already in the demolition pipeline and should be torn down within the next few months.
