DETROIT (FOX 2) - President Donald Trump will return to Michigan next week for a visit to the state – his first visit since last April.
What we know:
FOX 2 confirmed Friday from high-level sources familiar with the President's travel plans that Donald Trump will be in Michigan.
President Trump is scheduled to speak to Detroit Economic Club members on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The backstory:
The Detroit Economic Club has hosted senior government officials and political leaders since 1934, including sitting Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush.
The visit will mark President Trump's third appearance at the DEC, following campaign addresses in August 2016 and October 2024. In both of those election years, the DEC invited both major party Presidential candidates to speak.
Local perspective:
President Trump's visit to Detroit also coincides with the start of the 2026 Detroit Auto Show, an event that presidents typically pay a visit to, in advance of the public opening. It is not confirmed if he will attend that event.
