Even if you have never been there in person, chances are you have driven by the signature sign off I-94 as a Michigan mainstay announces it is also closing its doors.

The announcement was made last weekend that after 37 years, the Gibraltar Trade Center is closing in late August

The property has been sold. There is no word yet on who bought this 60,000 square foot facility or what it will be used for next. The last day of operation will be Aug. 27, 2017.

A statement on the Gibraltar Trade Center's website said:

"It is with great sadness we announce that the last day of operation at our Mt. Clemens location will be Aug. 27, 2017. The market and shows will continue through this date. Gibraltar Trade Center, our vendors and employees alike wish to thank everyone for their support throughout the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you for 37 wonderful years."

There have been many retailers recently closing its doors or shutting down locations due to online shopping and this is no different.

Revenues were down and point, click and ship seem to be the trend. CLICK HERE for more information from the trade center’s website.

In 2014, the Gibraltar Trade Center’s second location in Taylor off I-75 was closed with the land sold for development.
