'Lay off the hamburgers and French fries' - Santa body shames 9 year old
When you take your children - no matter their age or body type - to see Santa Claus, you expect Jolly Old Saint Nick to be, well, jolly. The last thing you'd want is your child to feel judged by Santa - but that's exactly what happened in North Carolina.
Nine-year-old Anthony Mayse went with his family in Forest City, North Carolina, to visit Santa on Saturday. It turned into a scene from a "Bad Santa" movie.
"When he got done, he said, 'Lay off the hamburgers and French fries' and that really just disrespected me, and I felt awful," Mayse said.
That's right: Kris Kringle - who doesn't say no to milk and cookies - told a boy that he eats too much.
Mayse wished he'd never even gone to see the old elf.
"It affected me so bad that I was crying until I went to bed that night and I want to say to him, 'You don't want to disrespect a 9-year-old. Even though what shape and size you are, it doesn't matter," Mayse said.
Anthony said Santa apologized but didn't think he actually meant it.
The company that hired Santa Clause said they would take 'disciplinary action'.
The family wants the Santa fired. They said they'll never go to the city to visit Santa again.
