A police chase has ended with a chain reaction crash, causing a fire and power outage on the west side of Detroit.
Police say he had hit another vehicle, which ricocheted him into the pole. It ejected him from the suv at Plainview and Van Buren, near Evergreen and Joy roads.
Police say they witnessed the man robbing someone before they gave chase. The suv is stolen, but investigators are not sure if it was stolen as part of the same crime or before then.
The suspect driving the vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital, his condition is unknown. The driver of the second car was not injured.
About 800 DTE Energy customers are without power as a result of the crash.
