Snow storm leaves Metro Airport empty Friday

Detroit Metro Airport was not quite the nightmare many travelers -- or even some employees, expected.

Friday's winter snow storm caused more than 400 flights to be canceled or delayed.
Airfield and maintenance crews began to remove snow overnight and airport officials say they'll continue working non-stop clearing the runways throughout the evening.

Officials say Friday the majority of their cancelations were in the morning. But, as the snow continues to fall, expect some cancelations and even more, and longer delays.

While it isn't too bad the most major delays seem to be flights to Ohio, Illinois especially flights to Chicago and to cities in Michigan like Kalamazoo, Lansing and Alpena.

Of course everyone encourages to check their flight status regularly and arrive early - so you aren't stuck driving to a flight that's been canceled.
