String of shootings reported in Detroit on Easter Sunday

Detroit Police are investigating after a violent day Easter Sunday in the city. Several shootings were reported before the sun was even up.

Around 2 a.m. police were dispatched to 6048 Holcomb on the city’s east side. There they discovered a man in his late 20s or early 30s in the middle of the street, shot in the head.  

Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead. There were no witnesses or information on the suspect. 

Two hours later a double shooting was reported at around 4:50 on the city’s east side in the 10700 block of Balfour.

Several shots were fired in a rear window, striking two victims. A 40-year-old woman suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead on scene. A man was also shot in his right ankle and was transported to the hospital. The woman reportedly had been receiving threatening messages from her husband.

The third incident was a non-fatal shooting on the westside of Detroit around 5 a.m. 

The victim, a man in his late 40s stated he was parked in his driveway in the 20200 block of Asbury Park when he was approached by two suspects. They robbed him at gunpoint taking $600 along with his I.D. 

The suspects then shot the victim in the right foot and fled the scene. The man was sent to the hospital in temporary serious condition.
