Submissions open for competition to perform at Detroit Jazz Festival

Interested in performing at the 2018 Detroit Jazz Festival?

The Detroit Jazz Festival Foundation is currently accepting submissions for performance slots at the 39th annual event this Labor Day weekend. This year's submissions are open to trombonists, tubists and baritonists, 35-years-old and younger.

This competition gives up-and-coming musicians the opportunity to perform at the Detroit Jazz Festival.

This year's competition is known as The Detroit Jazz Festival Curtis Fuller National Jazz Trombone/Low Brass Competition, in honor of Detroit native Curtis Fuller.

Submissions are due by July 9, 2018 and must include up to three tracks featuring your solo work, with any size ensemble. The grand prize winner will get $2,000 and a performance slot at the festival on Saturday, September 1.
