Suspect in custody after 1 killed, another critically injured in shooting on Detroit's east side

A suspect is in custody after a fatal shooting that left one woman dead and another in critical condition late Friday night on Detroit’s east side, police said.

The backstory:

The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. outside a liquor store in the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue in the Morningside neighborhood.

What we know:

Police said one woman was killed and another was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

What we don't know:

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting.

Police said the suspect arrived at the scene and fled on foot. Authorities initially considered the suspect armed and dangerous and issued a public safety notice asking residents to be on the lookout.

The shooting remains under investigation.
