Witness: Boyfriend confessed to killing woman and daughter, dumping them in abandoned house

Graphic testimony today at a hearing to determine whether a Detroit man will go to trial for the murder of a mother and her four-year-old daughter.

Marcus Hightower is charged with murdering 39-year-old Heidi Walker and her four year-old daughter Savannah.

In February their bodies were found in the basement of a burning abandoned home on Detroit's east side.

One witness says Hightower, 33, confessed to the crime.

"He was upset and he cried," said Coleman Gibson, a family friend. "He said he loved her. Heidi."

Attorney: Did he tell you what he did with the bodies?"

"He said he had put them in an abandoned house, he put them in the basement," Gibson said.

Hightower was Heidi Walker's boyfriend. He is charged with murder, child abuse, unlawful imprisonment and arson.

Prosecutors say he could also be charged with criminal sexual conduct in the young girl's death.

Walker and her daughter Savannah's bodies were found in the basement of an abandoned house on Lakeview and E. Forest.

The hearing will continue next month. Back in February, Savannah was the subject of an AMBER ALERT before she was found inside the house a short time later.
