Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures dip, more cold on the way

It's a total 180 from this time yesterday, with temps down about 20 degrees this morning, settling into the teens with wind chills in the single digits. The afternoon doesn't feel a whole lot different either.

We're comfortably cool with highs today expected in the mid 30s under mostly cloudy skies. From time to time, a few flurries are possible. Lows this evening will slip a few degrees below freezing. First thing Wednesday morning, a few snowflakes and raindrops are possible. Little to no accumulation is expected. A polar plunge in temperatures is in our forecast by late week.

After a chilly start this morning along with a few flurries, expect temperatures to finally jump above freezing with highs in the mid 30s. It will be breezy at times with gusts upwards of 30 mph. By late week, temperatures are expected to plunge into the low 20s with single digits expected overnight.
