Genesee County sheriff praises quick response for saving wounded deputy, officer in shootout with suspect

The deputy, a 21-year-old with a wife and two young kids, is in critical condition. By Tuesday night he was out of surgery and is expected to recover but has a long road ahead. The Burton police officer, said to be one of the newer members of the force, is in fair condition. He will undergo surgery tomorrow.
