Detroit EMS struggles to meet demand
Late last year Detroit firefighters and EMS combined their roles into a single position in an effort to meet demand. At the same time the city was short 200 firefighters and 100 EMS workers. Unfortunately, the story hasn't changed, with daily medic units shutting down due to the lack of manpower. Now, we're seeing a lot of personal running low on patience, leaving for other departments with lower call volume and better pay.
