2019 Scholarship Program for High School Seniors

Building upon their service to the community and mission to develop the potential of women, the Junior League of Detroit (JLD) scholarship program serves to impact the lives of young women in metropolitan Detroit. For 2018-19, the JLD is awarding ten (10) scholarships to female graduating high school seniors, each valued at $1,000.
 
To be eligible, students must plan to continue their education at public/private colleges or vocational schools as a part- or full- time student between fall of 2019 to spring of 2020. The scholarships are open to female Wayne County, Mich. residents or female students attending high schools in Wayne County, Mich.
 
Students awarded these scholarships are those who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism regarding food insecurity, in addition to their academic achievements. Factors considered include:
-        GPA of 3.25 or better
-        Extracurricular activities, community service and work experience
-        Essay question answer
-        Awards and honors
-        Recommendations from teachers, coaches or volunteer coordinators
 
"The purpose of this program is to support young women in and around Detroit who are driven to continue their education and contribute to their community," says Shelia Minetola, Chair of the Scholarship and Grant Committee at the Junior League of Detroit. "The JLD Scholarships support our organization's and member's dedication to improving children's lives in the community."
