Detroit's Triple T Foundation gives youth a fighting chance

The Detroit Triple T Foundation is a youth boxing and mentoring program that provides the youth of Detroit the tools and life skills to become successful adults.

The foundation was founded by Terry Canty, who was inspired to give the city's youth a chance to succeed after a tragedy in his life. His son and his son's two best friends were killed in a shooting. Terry himself was also paralyzed from the waist down by a gunshot wound when he was younger. Terry hopes his foundation can give Detroit's youth positive outlets to help them avoid falling victim to the streets.

The foundation offers boxing lessons, fitness & wellness programs, mentoring, tutoring and life skill coaching.

The foundation is trying to purchase a van to help transport kids to their mentoring and boxing events. They're holding a fundraiser on Saturday, June 26 to raise money for the van. The fundraiser is at Pampas Bowling Alley in Warren from 6 - 10 p.m. The cost is $25 and you'll get three games, shoes, pizza and pop.
