Mental Health Fair at Beaumont May 18
(WJBK) - May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Beaumont Health System is teaming up with Easter Seals Michigan and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to present a mental health fair.
The 2016 Mental Health Fair is Wednesday, May 18 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Beaumont's Royal Oak Campus.
New this year, the event includes a powerful, personal testimonial by Eric Hipple, former NFL Quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Eric's story includes his journey as a young person with undiagnosed depression that was exasperated during the stresses of adult life; transitioning out of football, alcohol use, and the loss of his own son, Jeff, to suicide at age 15.
An RSVP is mandatory to hear Eric's presentation, as space is limited in the auditorium. Information on how to RSVP can be found here.
Easter Seals Michigan will also present information on substance use prevention and treatment.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is free and available in the South Tower Parking Garage.
