New book chronicles Detroit's music scene from Motown to hip-hop

Detroit continues to have a rich and diverse music scene long after Motown Records put the city on the map.

Photographer and author Jenny Risher documents the evolution of the city's music scene in her new book. She joined us on The Nine to tell us more about it. You can hear from her in the video player above.

Her book is called "D-Cyphered," and you can also check out her photographs at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
