The Shepherd's Toy Shoppe giving kids Christmas
(WJBK) - The holidays are almost upon us and while many kids will be waking up to presents under the tree, others may be waking up with nothing. A local pastor and his wife are working to ensure as many children as possible receive a gift on Christmas.
Rev. Tom Ouweleen and Gretchen Ouweleen from Refuge Community Church founded the Shepherd's Toy Shoppe. Last year, they provided gifts, stocking stuffers, hats, gloves and household items for nearly 500 children in Macomb and Wayne Counties. Their goal this year is to serve 700 children, but they'll need help from the community.
The church is accepting item donations or monetary donations, which can also be made via their GoFundMe account.
Parents, if your family is in need of assistance this year, you can find the Parent Toy Shoppe Application here.
