1 killed, 1 injured in overnight shootout in Detroit

One person has been killed and another hurt in an overnight shooting on Detroit's west side. At least 50 shots were fired in the 8900 block of Coyle Street. That is near the intersection of Joy and Greenfield roads.

Police say the two victims were found sitting inside a car that had been shot up. They say the red Lincoln MKZ was riddled with bullet holes, and the windows were shot out. A 19-year-old was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police say a man in his early 20s was declared dead on scene.

A couple houses down from that vehicle, a woman told police that approximately 10 shots hit her daughter-in-law's home, where they were sleeping inside with a baby. The shots rang out around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. No one inside that home was injured.

Police say they are searching for multiple suspects, but have not given any descriptions.
