So many one of a kind bras presented at the 10th annual Bras For A Cause fundraising event at the Royal Oak Music Theater.

“The art work is incredible, we have over 60 bras here tonight, made by artist all throughout the community and even some flown in from other states,” event chair Bethanie Kelley said.

While the event focuses on breast cancer and breast cancer survivors, all the money raised goes to Gilda’s Club, a support center for people with cancer of all types.

“No one deserves to be alone when they’re fighting cancer. The support that they give people is such a need and so amazing that they do that,” Cheryl Boodram, VP of Sales and Marketing for Chief Financial Credit Union said. Chief Financial Credit Union is a presenting sponsor of the event.

In its 10th year, Bras For A Cause has raised nearly a million dollars.

“It just turned into a wildly successful event,” she said.

And the bras are really something to see.

“This is actually my first year making bas, I made three of them, I made a Crayola crayon bra, Cray ooh la la was the name, I made a flower bra that one of the models is modeling which is really exciting,” bra artist Megan Hengesbaugh said.

A big part of the fundraiser, breast cancer survivors modeling the show stopping brasseries.

“I never really thought of bras as art, but yeah they’re absolutely gorgeous,” Boodram said.
