152 jurors threatened jail time for failing to appear
DETROIT (WJBK) - Dozens of people are facing jail time after failing to show up for jury duty.
One hundred and fifty two people were summoned for jury duty in 36th District Court at least twice, and failed to appear every time. This week, the court is holding special hearings for these people to explain why they should not be held in contempt of court.
The individuals may be held in contempt of court, fined or incarcerated.
The first round of hearings were Wednesday, November 9 and will also be on Thursday, November 10.
If the individual fails to appear today, a warrant could be issued for their arrest.
