16-year-old with love for animals looking for forever home
(WJBK) - Thousands of children in Michigan are waiting for a place to call home, and today we meet one of those kids - a young lady with a passion for animals.
There's never a dull moment at the Michigan Humane Society, but this special visitor brings an extra spark of excitement.
"I just love to see animals. Animals are my favorite," says Miriya. She's a 16-year-old whose soft voice doesn't compare to her soft heart for animals. So our tour guide, Ryan, takes Miriya on an exclusive animal adventure.
First stop: The veterinarian.
Miriya wants to work with animals someday, so this was one of her favorite stops. She even had a chance to conduct her first pet examination.
Animals are her first love, but Miriya has many interests that make her one of a kind.
"She is super creative. She loves to draw, write stories, write poems," says Caitlin Dombrowski, Miriya's case worker.
Creative and curious, Miriya loved seeing everything from cats to dogs and even roosters.
"I can't choose [a favorite]; I love all animals," she says. "I would be an animal hoarder because I would take every animal out of every shelter and keep them as my own."
She adores animals and she dreams of feeling love like that from a forever family.
"I'd like to have a mom and a dad," she says.
"Ideally, Miriya would do great in a strong one-parent or two-parent family with or without other kids, a family that would be very supportive of her educational needs and would be active and stay busy with her," Dombrowski says.
And, of course, a family with pets so she can show off how responsible she is.
"I'd walk them, feed them, pay for their medical care and I'd save up all the money I can," she says.
A kind-hearted young lady whose message to the world is even more powerful than her love for animals.
"Even if i don't know you I still love you, and I really do mean that," she says. "Because we are all human beings and deserve to be loved by someone."
