Just hours after a shooting in Harper Woods, police executed a search warrant at an eastside Detroit home making two arrests.

A man and woman taken in police custody. It all started at the Eastland Village apartment complex - near Eastland Center mall at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

"When our officer arrived we did locate a 28-year-old male of Harper Woods that had been shot multiple times at that location," said Harper Woods Chief Jim Burke.

The man was taken to the hospital where he remains in serious condition. Burke can't say what led to the shooting - but almost immediately detectives had a possible shooter.

Those leads led them to Beaconsfield Street near Warren where they made the arrests around 3 p.m. Thursday, they're being held without bond on multiple felonies.

"Fortunately there was no one else in the area, there are no other injuries," Burke said. "We are sorry the victim was shot but we are glad no one else was injured at the time, there is a school nearby and things like that."

There isn't much activity over in the apartment complex, police said will get called for a car theft once in a while but rarely a shooting.

"This stuff usually doesn't happen around here," said neighbor Dwanna Callahan.

Callahan says with as many bullets that were fired in such close quarters - she's glad no one else was hurt.

"Somebody could have been walking past coming out of their door they could have gotten shot," she said. "It could have been worse."
