2 women gunned down at apartment complex, one's baby safely delivered

A steady stream of people have placed flowers, balloons and candles on the lawn outside the Grand Oaks Apartment office where two women were gunned down Tuesday in Grand Blanc.

Twenty-year-old Lyric Work was critically wounded. She was 33 weeks pregnant. Doctors say they were able to safely deliver her baby by cesarean section.

Work was placed on life support but doctors say her baby is stable and the prognosis for the baby is good.

The other apartment office employee Tamara Johnson, 45, of Mt. Morris was shot and killed. An employee who knew the two women said another woman who is a resident of the complex walked into the office just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and shot both women.

Police say they have the accused shooter in custody but they have not revealed a motive for the shootings.

Mellissa Wright, a resident of the apartment complex, said it takes a really low person to shoot anyone, but shooting a pregnant person is just not right. "Yeah, just to know she was pregnant and that lady does that to her."

Wright has lived in the complex for 7 years and she said she didn't know the shooter but knew the two employees who were shot very by well. "Everybody here is nice. It's like a big family here."

A GoFundMe page has been posted online to offer financial support for Lyric Work's new baby.

The GoFundMe text indicates the baby is a girl named Marley.

Police are asking if anyone has information to call police immediately.
