2 wounded in downtown shooting after fight breaks out

Two people were injured after a shooting in downtown Detroit -- and the suspect is still at large.

Dramatic viewer video shows a fight at Beaubien and Congress downtown leading to shots fired. A man screams "I'm hit, I'm hit."

Police say it happened at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, the victims were a man and woman both in their 40s. The man was shot in the stomach, the woman wounded in her arm from a bullet that grazed her.

FOX 2 has learned she has already been released from the hospital.

It is unclear whether the two people who were shot were in the group of people who were fighting or if they just happened to be in the area.

People FOX 2 spoke with, say this type of violence downtown isn't as common as it used to be.

"Just coming down to the city you wouldn't think you were in Detroit," said Terri MacNear who works downtown. "(It is) so diverse, there is so much going on around here."

"I'm always aware," said Dionne Harrell. "I keep an extra eye out for what's going on."
