25-year-old killed in head-on crash with suspected drunken driver

"We just miss her so much. We can't imagine living our lives without her. It's heartbreaking."

Diane Haack of Eastpointe thinks back on memories of her daughter 25-year-old Marrisah Haack. Early saturday morning, the TGI Friday's waitress was driving on Romeo Road near Townsend in Addison Township when she was hit by a pickup truck.

"I never never in a million years thought this would happen," her mother says.

Investigators tell us the 39-year-old driver of a Chevy Silverado tried passing a slower car while in a no passing zone. Marrisah was hit head-on. She died at the scene.

"I'm never going to know her. I think about her wedding and her kids and I'm never going to experience that. She was only 25. She was a baby, she was a baby," her mom says.

Deputies from the Addison Township and Oakland Township substations assisted troopers for over four hours at the scene. The pickup driver from Romeo had to be extricated from his vehicle.

He was transported to the hospital for serious injuries and is expected to face Operating While Intoxicated charges.

"I know that their family is going to be affected by this. I know he has kids; I know he has a family and a wife, and I know they're going to be affected, but life will never be like mine's going to be. I will never be as happy as I was the day before this happened," Marrisah's mom says.

The family says they will fight for justice for Marrisah -- and they have this message for anyone who thinks about drinking and driving.

"You have to think about other people, what could happen. This is so hard."

Funeral services for Marrisah will take place Friday night at the K. Schultz Funeral Home in Eastpointe.
