Three people have been charged after a Detroit firefighter was found dead in December of 2015, according Wayne County's Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller.

David Madrigal Jr.  was four months from retiring when police say he was killed by blunt force trauma to the head. The attack happened during an apparent robbery at his home on Vaughan Street on the city's west side.

The prosecutor's office alleges that Timmy Soto, Nicole Oneill and Christian Rasnick went to Madrigal's house and robbed and killed him. Soto and Rasnick are also accused of taking Madrigal's car and driving it to a nearby alley and setting it on fire.

All three have been charged with felony murder; armed robbery; larceny in a building; and arson third degree. Soto and Rasnick also faces an auto theft charge and Soto faces additional felony firearms charges.

"It is very sad that the a 26-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department was murdered. We are glad to report that because of the tireless work of DPD homicide officers we are able to issue charges today," the office says in the report.
