39th annual Special Needs Fishing Derby in St. Clair Shores

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WJBK) - Some children with special needs enjoyed a morning on the water in Saint Clair Shores on Wednesday. 

The Harbor Island Marina and the Shorewood Kiwannis Club sponsored the 39th Annual Fishing Derby For Kids. Children were treated to boat rides, fishing, and fun on the lake.

"The kids just really enjoy this," says Kevin Salis. His family owns Island Harbor Marina. "They look forward to it; I get calls in May from organizations making sure I'm still doing it. The kids just, you can see it in their faces. They really enjoy fishing and just being out."

As many as 400 children took part in this year's event.
