Six passengers were injured Thursday morning when a DDOT bus crashed on Detroit's west side. The crash happened at McNichols Road and Linwood Street.

A spokesperson from the Mayor's Office tells us the bus veered off the road and crashed through a tree onto a residential property. There was significant damage to the front window and a nearby light pole. DTE is at the scene working on repairs.

The extent of injuries is not known at this time. A witness says the bus driver was reaching for something when the accident happened.

The driver has been taking off the road for the rest of the day and is being tested. The mayor's spokesperson says that is standard procedure.
