75-year-old charged with OWI after fatal motorcycle crash in Clinton Township

Authorities in Clinton Township say a 75-year-old man has been charged after a fatal motorcycle accident this weekend on Harper Avenue.

The accident happened near 15 Mile Road Saturday night and involved a Chevrolet Malibu and a Harley Davidson.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling south on Harper when the driver of the Malibu attempted to turn left from the northbound lane and crashed. Police say the Harley Davidson rider was thrown from the motorcycle, and wasn't wearing a helmet. The rider was taken to the hospital where he died later from his injuries.

Family has identified the victim as 46-year-old Carl Evans from Clinton Township.

Police say the driver of the Malibu, 75-year-old Edward Gray of St. Clair Shores, stopped immediately after the crash and stayed on scene until first responders got there.

Gray has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Causing Death, which is a 15 year felony. His lawyer said in court Monday that Gray has no previous criminal record and that he's been a delivery truck driver for 22 years. Graw was arraigned on charges Monday afternoon and received a $20,000 personal bond.
