9 injured in SMART bus crash outside Taylor Southland

Nine people were injured in a SMART bus crash outside Southland Center in Taylor Thursday.

A bus was involved in an accident that sent it into a group of parked cars at about 6:51 p.m. outside the north side of the mall parking lot, according to Taylor police. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Taylor Police said that the bus was turning inside the lot when it was hit by a Ford Mustang. That collision resulted in the bus driver hitting his head and losing consciousness. A passenger attempted to control the runway bus, but it careened into a host of parked vehicles.

The incident was caught on video by on the surveillance camera at the adjacent Target store, located across the parking lot from the northern entrances to the mall.

Taylor Police are investigating, assisted by the Michigan State Police.
