911 Dispatcher helps couple deliver baby

When a woman went into labor about a week early, she and her husband were helped by an unexpected source.

An Oakland County Sheriff's dispatcher helped guide the father to deliver the baby. While over the phone, she provided advice on the steps for what to do during birth.

"Due to Dispatch Specialist Ludwig's training and knowledge, this father and mother were able to safely bring the latest addition to their family into the world," said Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

Once the baby was out, she continued to give instructions until the Fire Department and Community EMS personnel arrived.

The mother and child were taken to the hospital, where everyone is expected to be alright.
