911 operator loses all in house fire

DETROIT (WJBK) - Shanesha Pugh is a 911 operator in the city of Detroit. Her job is to get others help - but these days she is in need of some herself.

Shanesha and her family were the recent victims of a house fire that tore through her home on Detroit's east side last week.

"My dad called me on my lunch break to tell me that him and my daughters were headed to St. John to get treatment for smoke inhalation," said Pugh.

Pugh's father and two young daughters, Maxx and Miles, were inside her childhood home when the fire broke out in the girls' upstairs bedroom right around 2 a.m.

According to Pugh, they happened to fall asleep on the first floor away from the flames, but could not escape the heavy smoke.

Pugh says the second floor is badly damaged, especially the bedroom. According to Pugh the other rooms have smoke damage and the bathroom the walls were melted from the intensity of the fire.

Her loved ones are now out of the hospital but the home Pugh grew up in is unlivable right now. Investigators say they were not able to pinpoint the exact cause at this time but continue to investigate.
