Accident causes Grosse Pointe power outage; voting precinct to remain open

Residents in Grosse Pointe Farms may be left in the dark through the night.

A power outage due to a traffic accident has left estimated repairs to last longer than expected, according to DTE Energy.

A traffic accident involing a gravel hauler truck that brought down multiple power lines at Fisher and Grosse Pointe Boulevard.

Affected in the outage is Grosse Pointe South High School, one of the voting precincts but DTE says voting should proceed as normal. Power generators will be brought in to keep the school open as a voting precinct

In a statement, DTE said: "DTE crews are currently working to address the problem and estimate repairs could take until the morning. The power outage area has expanded to include most of the southwestern part of GPF."
