The Amber Alert for a 16-month-old Romulus boy who was inside a car that was carjacked early Saturday morning has been canceled.

Around 8:00 a.m., the alert was canceled and state authorities said the child was found safe and in a car seat. Officials did not elaborate on where the child was found.

16-month-old Ayden Casteels was in the vehicle when it was taken early Saturday morning in Romulus, officials say.

The vehicle is a red 1997 Saturn, 2-door. The car was a Michigan license plate ACU559 and one of the mirrors is broken. The Amber Alert website said the child and car were taken from the Howard Johnson hotel just off Merriman Road near the airport in Romulus just before 2:30 Saturday morning.

According to the Amber Alert posted online, an unknown black man carjacked the vehicle early Saturday morning and drove off with the child in the car.
