An AMBER Alert that was issued overnight for three children out of Sturgis, Mich. has been canceled.

Michigan State Police said just after 9 a.m. Thursday that all three children have been found and are safe, and the suspect is in custody.

The AMBER Alert was issued after police said 37-year-old Fernando Mendoa Cruz took off with the three children, aged 2, 4 and 5, August 29 after assaulting their mother. He is said to have taken off with the kids when she went to a gas station to call 911.

Sturgis, Mich. is about 45 miles south of Kalamazoo near the Indiana border. Police said earlier they believed Cruz crossed into Indiana, but didn't immediately say where he was found with the kids.
