Armed man taken in to custody after barricading himself in Detroit home

A barricaded gunman has been taken in to custody following an hours long stand-off on Detroit's west side.

Police were called to the home at Artesian Street and Paul Avenue just before noon on Thursday. Detroit Police and SWAT were on the scene, and were able to take the man into custody around 1:30pm.

Carver STEM Academy was put on a temporary lockdown while the situation unfolded. Detroit Public schools Executive Director of Communications, Michelle Zdrodowski said Detroit Public Schools Police Department had officers posted at the school.

Still no word as to why the man barricaded himself in his home.
