Armed robber strikes local gas station on Christmas day
Police in Westland are searching for an armed robber that struck at a gas station in Westland on Christmas morning.
Surveillance video from inside of the gas station caught the incident and police and employees of the gas station are hoping it helps to identify the alleged suspect.
The employees at the Speedway at the corner of Van Born and Merriman tell Fox 2 that a man with a gun came inside for about two minutes around 7:15 a.m. Christman morning with his face covered and pulled out what looked to be a handgun wrapped in a plastic bag. The alleged suspect then told everybody to get down, signaling that it was a robbery attempt.
One employee of the gas station say the employees did not know what to do. "Scared, nervous, shaky, didn't know what to do, and then we got to the back and the door wouldn't lock so we were hoping he wouldn't come back there, so we just stayed back here until the police got here."
Police have not released many details on this investigation, but if you have any information you're asked to give them a call.
